Mission

COLPOFER mission is to improve the protection of persons, premises, trains and information within the railway system through a strong cooperation between railway police forces and railway companies security organizations.

This includes:

• The exchange of information and shared experiences between members in the fight against crime ity in the railway environment;
• The defining of a common railway security strategy;
• The elaboration of recommendations aimed at improving the security level within the railway environment aimed at improving the public perception of security (customers, railway staff, contractors and suppliers).

The activities are conducted through an operational collaboration based on direct communication between the members on security issues which need to be resolved quickly and without formalities and an external collaboration with other organizations working on Railway Security.

COLPOFER is a Special Group of UIC (International Union of Railways).

COLPOFER raises all major operational issues encountered by their members’ security forces to the European institutions. COLPOFER is an member of the Expert Group for Land Transport Security (LANDSEC) which was created and is driven by DG MOVE.
